SET YOURSELF

No one arrives anywhere by chance. Show me a man who is about to embark on a journey, I will show you a man who is consciously making preparation. 

Have you seen a man who suddenly arrives at work without any CONSCIOUS preparation? Permit me to say therefore...

If you do not set yourself to go somewhere, you will never arrive there.

If you do not set yourself to do something you will never get it done. 

No man leaves his house for work unconsciously and then sees himself suddenly on his desk; I may not know your destination but when I see your direction, I could predict your destination. In the same vein every journey to success is a function of a CONSCIOUS ENGAGEMENT. 

Success and failure are very predictable, because those who desire them leave traces. 

The truth is, if we don't set ourselves to be great we are already setting up ourselves to end average. 

As a business man, if you don't set yourself to be successful you are invariably setting yourself to fail. Same applies to every other endeavour in any area of life. 

                                            

Let's see a man called Abraham in the text below...

...and they (he and his household) went forth to go (set themselves) into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came...Genesis 12:5

Where did they set themselves to go? Canaan.

Where did they arrive? Canaan. 

Did they set themselves for Canaan and later arrived at Canada?

Did they set themselves for Canaan and later arrived at Cambridge? 

Where you are today, believe it or not was your set up. If it must change, then you need to reset yourself. 

Every failed endeavour (career, business, relationship, marriage, health, finances, etc) failed because we consciously set it up to fail. If you would be sincere, you knew when it started. 

The good news is, it does not matter what has failed or what is not working, if you are genuinely interested to arrive at a better destination then you can reset yourself to arrive  there. 

Stop complaining about the past failures, stop complaining about people, you are the captain of your ship (life) and only you can set the sail.

Hey! Look ahead, what can you see? Do you see Canaan? Then it is time to SET YOURSELF to arrive.

GO (ALL OUT) FOR IT

 Until you get to the point where you literally get out of your comfort zone, leaving your excuses and stories behind, leaving your inabilities and inadequacies and also leaving yourself behind and go all out in search of greatness, you will never get to it. 

Dear friends, may I impress it on your mind today, that greatness is a long way from home (your comfort zone). I hear you talk about it, I hear you always preparing for it, I hear you discuss it, when will you take your first step and be on the move? 

At the beginning of 2014, you said you will give up those lazy and 'do nothing friends', you said you will go out there and get yourself a job in line with your passion, you promised to work on your character, etc. It's the end of the year already, what exactly have you done? 

Let me show you how far you still have to go...

the day Moses brought Israel out of Egypt, was not the day, they arrived at Canaan. The red sea was just ahead, the wilderness was their next experience. 

The day Abraham left his father's house was not the day, he got the promise. He had to go through his testing phase, so as to sharpen him for what lies ahead.

The day David brought down the head of Goliath, was not the day he ascended the throne. He had to deal with the envy and bitterness of his boss, King Saul.   

I thought for the mere fact that Jesus got baptised and a voice came down from heaven to validate his assignment should have made everyone to believe on him...No, it didn't. 

But all of these great men would not have ascended their place in Destiny if they didn't dare to GO ALL OUT for it. 

Moses left his Palacios Pharoah's apartment to go in search of it. 

Abraham left his Daddy's mansion to go for it. 

David left his proximity to home just in case of trouble and came all the way to meet a battle he was not physically prepared for but couldn't afford to miss his chance BECAUSE HE KNEW EXACTLY what he was out for. You thought he went to give his brothers food, but this is what he had to say for himself when he got bullied.

'...Is there not a cause?' 1 Samuel 17:29

If he had delivered the food, shouldn't he have returned home...? He was on a search.

Jesus left Heaven, no wonder at his return (after 33 years) God gave him a name that is above every other name. 

Friends, I want to believe you can appreciate just how far greatness is away from your home (comfort zone). 

The question is WHEN WILL YOU BEGIN THIS JOURNEY?

Being average is so comfortable, but it is a prison. It's your turn, It's your time to leave the prison and comfort of average and respond to the call of greatness within you.

DON'T LOOK BACK

 Emotions are very powerful; but this power could either be a booster or a weight on the path to success. Some people have used emotions to take giant steps and other people have also refused to take steps because of their emotional state. 

A wise man once said: COMMITMENT IS STAYING LOYAL TO WHAT YOU SAID YOU WERE GOING TO DO LONG AFTER THE MOOD (emotional state) YOU SAID IT IN HAS LEFT YOU. 

Have you ever seen people start certain things passionately and a few blocks down the line, they are beginning to consider walking away? What changed? Their emotions.

Someone would say, challenges grew bigger, right? But at the point of making the decision to commit, how come it seemed as though ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE and then suddenly it's beginning to be circumstance based? Emotions.

Greatness is never birthed by unstable emotions. FEELING GOOD ABOUT THE TASK IS A DISCIPLINE YOU DEVELOP, IT IS NOT WHAT THE TASK OFFERS YOU. The task will never remain the same, the challenges won't grow smaller, there would be bends along the road, bumps and pot holes alike, but you make a conscious decision to be in charge of your emotional state. STOP BEING EMOTIONALLY UNSTABLE! 

You see, the road to success is long and demanding already but when we allow our negative emotions to get in the way, it makes it even longer. Friends, receiving insults is part of it...being disrespected is definitely part of it...not being appreciated...sudden changes that you didn't anticipate...the list is endless. WILL YOU GIVE UP? WILL YOU LOOK BACK? 

WILL YOU STAY COMMITTED? 

Some people stopped going to the GYM because the trainer is too hard on them, now they look twice as big than their first appointment at the GYM. Why? They don't just feel respected...who was to gain in the process? The trainer or themselves? 

Behind every divorce is an uncontrolled emotion.

Behind every business failure are negative emotions.

Behind every failure in life is self pity (a destructive emotional state).

Why are you always quick to walk away? Why do you keep 'giving-up' on things?

What am I saying? if the goal is yours and the dream is yours, keep your negative emotions out of the way AND REACH FOR YOUR DREAM! 

Stop complaining about people, because you would meet people everywhere. The world was not created for you alone. So, DON'T YOU LET ANYBODY OR THE TREATMENT YOU RECEIVE FROM ANYONE STOP YOU FROM REACHING YOUR GOAL!

Joseph had every opportunity, I mean justifiable opportunities to be bitter and hateful but he knew that feeling good is a DISCIPLINE , not what life or people would offer. Did he succeed or not?

David, haven been anointed, preparing for kingship, had an enemy chasing him, yet he refused to be bitter...even when the temptation was so high, all he did was to keep alive but patiently waiting for his time.

If we don't keep our emotions on check, we would soon check out on our greatness. 

Jesus gave a man a task...and the man said, he had his Dad's funeral to attend to and then, he will be back, guess what Jesus said...

...let the dead bury the dead: but go...(and do your assignment) Luke 9:59-60

How hard? Do you think Jesus was insensitive to his plight? 

Jesus was simply teaching him to not allow 'the good' distract him from 'the task'. 

In conclusion, Jesus said

...NO MAN, HAVING PUT HIS HAND TO THE PLOUGH, AND LOOKING BACK, IS FIT (QUALIFIED) FOR THE KINGDOM...Luke 9:62

Average people run average emotional lives...great people run powerful emotional lives. 

YOUR EMOTION IS YOURS...ONLY YOU CAN KEEP IT IN CHECK, WHEN IT TRIES TO GET IN YOUR WAY TO GREATNESS!

PUT YOUR LIFE IN YOUR HANDS 2

Let us try to solve a fundamental problem in the school of Achievement. The pathetic bit is that those who have the problem don't even know they have a major problem...because there is always a sentimental justification to it. 

So what then is this problem? 

I call it the lazy man's philosophy - "nobody wants to help me". 

What is help? 

Help is a 20% boost that makes your 80% reach 100%. 

Your 80% constitutes: 10% of initiative and 70% of NON-NEGOTIABLE PERSONAL INPUT OR EFFORT. 

From the above definition, you will see that to begin anything in life...you don't need Help [20%]. Go and get busy about your 80% first...then with or without the 20%, you are already on your way to achieving whatever it is you have set your mind on. 

A lazy man interprets it the other way around: He believes Help is 80% and his input is 20% and so he sits all day saying...

"I don't have anybody"

"I don't know anybody"

"I need capital"

and then days turn out to weeks, weeks turn into months and months turn into years...a full grown adult has decided to be his own problem. 

Stop Planning Your Life Around Someone else's "Help" because Help is usually not an obligation.

Nobody...Nobody...even those who have promised to help you...those who once helped....NOBODY OWES YOU ANYTHING. 

Stop sitting around....Go and ACCEPT FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR LIFE. 

These days I hear lazy and irresponsible religious people talk about "Destiny Helper". They pray it, they sing it. Let me say this...

Something sounds "religious" or "spiritually deep" doesn't necessarily make it True. 

Okay...if you succeed who is the first beneficiary? Is it your uncle? How about when you turn yourself into a liability...who suffers the most? Your Cousin? 

Jesus once had a conversation with a man who literally sat down at a spot for 38 years in the name of "No helper". Jesus asked...

Jesus: Will thou be made whole?

Impotent Man: Sir, I have no man...

How long have you been holding back? 

  

You OWE YOURSELF 80%...GO AND PAY YOUR DEBT!

NO WEEKENDS 3

Years ago, I read a book titled "AN ENEMY CALLED AVERAGE". 

Lately, I have come to conclude THE real ENEMY is not AVERAGE, because AVERAGE is just an output of some type of input. 

The real enemy is "HALF-HEARTED" Commitment. It's a commitment that doesn't stretch you.

A prophet died indebted and the creditors were to take his two sons as slaves: Elisha, the man of God asked the widow what she had? In her response, she said,  she had nothing but a jar of oil...Elisha gave her a specific instruction: 

"Go borrow...vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; BORROW NOT A FEW (Don't hold back..go all the way).." 2 Kings 4:3 (KJV Paraphrase are author's). 

Now, she did what was instructed, however, God could only fill as much vessels as she gathered. By the time the vessels were all filled, the miracle in the oil stopped. She sold them and paid off the debt of her dead husband.

WHAT IF SHE GAVE HER ALL and got twice or thrice as much vessels as she initially gathered? 

Friends, God CANNOT BLESS YOU BEYOND YOUR STRETCH. Elisha asked her to go beyond the vessels she had...He said "GO ABROAD","BORROW NOT A FEW". 

There is a deluge of Success coming your way...but it will demand a STRETCHED Commitment. 

Don't tell me "I believe I can make it to the top" until you tell me, how much you want to sacrifice: How much of your time, resources, sleep and comfort that you want to give up for your dream. 

Why waste valuable time in the name of "it's a weekend"? Let your Productive input to your goal go beyond week days. 

Ordinary men talk about "hours of input", Average men talk about "diligence" but men who reach out to the world talk "Sacrificial Commitment".

No one is to blame for your level of success!

CHANGE INTO SOMETHING DIFFERENT 2

Haven failed my UK Driving test four times within 12 weeks, my instructor said something as he began to prepare me for my fifth attempt; he said 

"on the day of the test, if you keep driving as a learner, you will return home as a learner but if you drive as a Licensed driver you will go home with your Full Drivers License". 

What was he asking of me...? Change...I needed to Change attitudinally into the person I wanted to become. 

Stop blaming everyone and everything around you for your current position. That is you...being the old you, playing the victim. This might not sound sweet but "the government IS NOT your problem, your employer IS NOT your problem, your pay cheque IS NOT the problem, your spouse/partner IS NOT the problem". 

The real problem is ME...yes...that's right! Stop expecting things to change when you are not willing to go through the crucible of change yourself. 

I don't care who might have hurt you in the past, you need to drop all of those anger, bitterness, resentment and hatred you have been nurturing all these years...it's a weight- DROP IT! Those whom you hold the grudge against are so free living whereas you are dying-DROP IT! 

Begin to see in you the person you aspire to become tomorrow, and start to mimic/rehearse that person today. 

Stop saying "those rich people"...excuse me, I thought you are one of them. Start saying "...We billionaire CEOs..."...yes! that's right! 

Do not let your current circumstance become your vision...NO! Make your prospect your vision from right where you are. 

Believe in what God made...God made you...and He did not make a failure!

CHANGE INTO SOMETHING DIFFERENT 1

Everybody desires to be successful but not everyone truly wants to pay the price. Greatness will never change to meet you at your low energy level...we are the ones to change who we are if we are really interested to achieve greatness in what we do. 

It doesn't matter what your goals are...it doesn't matter how big or how small, whom you may or may not have shared it with; the truth is,  if you are not willing to change who you are today, that dream does not have a chance to become a reality.  

That dream is suppose to put a demand on your sleeping hours; It is suppose to put a demand on whom your friends should be; it is suppose to put a demand on how much time you spend watching TV; how much time you spend taking selfies and putting it up on Social Media; it is suppose to put a demand on the quality of books and articles you read and stock on your Personal library. 

So...what's it going to be? Do you really want "this"?

If it is yet to place a demand on who you are today...you need to rethink your strategy. 

During the 2016 Olympics 400m race, Shaunae Miller had to dive in order to deny Allyson Felix (the  reigning Gold medalist as at the time) the Olympic Gold for that race. 

Shaunae Miller knew if she would obtain the gold, if she would beat Allyson Felix, she will need to change the way she finishes her race. 
Jesus told  Nicodemus

"..Except a man BE born again...he CANNOT SEE the Kingdom of heaven..." Jn 3:3 (KJV). 

Who do you need to BE...in order to SEE the fulfillment of your dreams? It's time to Change into Something Different.
