GROWTH METRE

Every time something looks impossible to us, every time something looks overwhelming to us, there is a simple explanation we give to such tasks: it is hard...it is too difficult...maybe it is not for me.

Give a 3 year old a 10 litre of oil in a jar to move for 100 metres. The child might not even be able to lift it up from the floor. Bring another child who is 12 year old to do the same task, he does it comfortably. Have we changed the task? No! So, what happened? The difference in the level of growth and development between both children. 

I tell you the truth, for everything you think is a problem, challenge or difficulty...someone somewhere is currently triumphing over the same situation. Challenges come to measure our level of growth in life (as it applies to that challenge); but most of us instead of RESPONDING to those challenges, choose to REACT to them. When we respond, we simply ask yourselves, HOW CAN I..? When we react, we simply give ourselves reasons to justify why we are in such difficulty. 

It is time to grow up!

Your negativity towards life and the challenges that come with life is definitely taking you nowhere. Enough of your complaining, enough of the self pity and endless reasons for you not being where you want to be or achieve what you want. Your level on the growth metre is just too low. 

In Numbers 13 (the story of the 12 spies): Every one of them saw giants, but 10 of them were REACTIVE and only 2 of them were RESPONSIVE. The interpretation we give to life's seeming challenges is a reflection of our growth level. If we feel overwhelmed it is an indication that we need some growing up to do. 

Every giant is kill-able; every mountain is surmountable. The question is ARE YOU READY TO PAY THE PRICE FOR GROWTH? ARE WE READY TO GIVE UP OUR CRAVINGS FOR PLEASURE AND FUN AND SUBMIT TO THE PAIN OF DISCIPLINE THAT MAKES US FIT FOR THE CHALLENGES OF LIFE. There is only one reason, why someone who is overweight would remain the way they are...not simply ready to give up their unhealthy but comfortable lifestyle for the pain that comes with working out, in order to keep healthy.

The pain of discipline is temporary but HIGHLY REWARDING, the fun of not accepting responsibility for growing up is also temporary but SPEEDILY DESTROYING 

I say to you today, that marital challenge, relationship challenge, financial challenge, career challenge, etc are all surmountable. Yes! They are surmountable. How?

Growing up is a DELIBERATE and CONSCIOUS action. GROWTH CAN NEVER BE ASSUMED. 

Here are a few basic steps: 

1. Stop justifying your current attitude towards the problem. Complaining and blaming everyone and everything does not solve the problem.

2. What new disciplines (reading, studying, working out, praying more, being more positive, etc.) do I need to commit to for a positive change in my world? List them.

3. GO ALL OUT AND DO what you have listed in number 2.

WE CAN NOT FIX THE WORLD, WE CAN ONLY FIX OURSELVES

What is your reading on the GROWTH METRE..? It is time to grow up a bit more. Every challenge is not there to kill you but an indication that there is some growing up to do.

UP YOUR PERSONAL EXPECTATIONS: DEMAND DYNAMICS 4

What do you do when people don't expect anything outstanding from you? What do you do when experts and analysts have finalised your case and call it a dead case?

Among many other things...

You don't have to go searching for the meanings of the adjectives they have used to qualify you; you don't have to hate yourself or hate those who have shared their opinion about your abilities and capabilities. 

This is something you can do...

RISE ABOVE everyone's expectations and that includes you too! 

If they say all you can give is 100%, reintroduce yourself in your next performance by delivering 150%. 

There are some women in scriptures I admire so much; the 5 Daughters of Zelophehad. 

According to the instruction given to Moses by God, the lands were to be shared according to the census of males in every clan; now because Zelophehad had no sons, his daughters weren't counted, therefore weren't qualified for any inheritance but Guess what...

Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah (The 5 daughters of Zelophehad Num. 27) affirmed their rights with dignity and negotiated their inheritance. They came to Moses and Moses went to God. God saw the wisdom in their claim and instructed Moses to appoint them the inheritance of their father although he had no sons; and also established a new law in Israel for cases similar to that of these 5 amazing women. 

What are some of the things you have been told you...Can't Have? Can't Do?

There is nothing wrong about people's perception of what you are capable of..the only thing wrong is when you confirm they are right by under-performing.

THE PROTOCOL FOR GROWTH

Have you ever wondered why every driver must sit to drive his car? Have you ever wondered why, every pilot must sit to drive the plane? It is no coincidence that as human beings we first learn to sit (as babies) before we stand, then take a step - I call this THE PROTOCOL FOR GROWTH. Show me a baby, who walks before sitting, I will show you a baby that has never been born. 

Our life is like an aircraft, or a car but there is a constant demand on our ability to sit down if we desire to make significant progress in life. Do you want to have a colourful and enviable destiny? It begins with SITTING DOWN FIRST...Luke 14:28 reads:

''...which of you INTENDING TO BUILD A TOWER (enviable destiny), SITTETH not down FIRST...

Now, I understand why we have chairs in boardrooms. The beauty and quality of any endeavour is a function of the commitment to the discipline of sitting down. As a student when you fail an exam, you are given an opportunity (sometimes) to 'RESIT'. Why? They are not saying you did not sit for the exams, they are only saying your first result suggests you did not sit enough (to plan/study) before the day, hence the opportunity to go back home/library and discipline yourself to sit down again. You know the painful part..? Those who resit exams, their 100% is the same as the 40% of those who wrote it by sitting once. I know, that is not what you want.

You have partied enough, you have gone out enough, stop filling your weekends with just fun time. Create times when you call yourself to a board meeting. Teach your children to sit and develop plans NOT PLAYING GAMES and WATCHING MOVIES/SHOWS for endless hours that does not impart positively on their future.

The difference between an outstanding student and an average student is the hours they each commit to the PROTOCOL FOR GROWTH - SITTING DOWN. 

Now because life is not just a one off exam, it simply implies...our commitment to sitting has to be a life long commitment, that is if we desire continuous progress. What happens when you leave the driver's seat? Your car stops making progress.

Some of the problems we have today are not what we say they are...a little bit of sitting time to THINK, PLAN, LOCATE RELEVANT BOOKS on the subject can fix it...but then, since it does not sound like 'fun' we just wouldn't do it and yet, we are still suffering. Decide today to SIT DOWN. The truth is, you can do better at your job, your studies, your business, your relationship, your family, etc. if only you decide to sit down.

It is time to get a thinking chair in your room, develop an office corner in your house, see your life as an organisation not an individual. CUT DOWN on your unproductive activities and teach your kids the same too.

Your Peace, Progress (in any endeavour) and fulfillment is tied to this discipline. YOU EITHER PAY (SIT) TODAY AND PLAY (HAVE FUN) LATER or you play today and pay later.

Remember, every growing child sits first, stands next, then takes the first step, then walk, before running around. Your development of your glorious destiny is similar to that of a child...DO NOT REVERSE THE ORDER.

UP YOUR PERSONAL EXPECTATIONS: DEMAND DYNAMICS 3

When you take a good look at yourself, with everything you are going through and have been through in life...are you still hopeful? Do you really think that goal/dream/Vision is still within your reach? Do you still EXPECT yourself to reach it?

Your past or present circumstance is only as powerful to stop you to the degree of powerlessness of your hopefulness and Personal Expectation.

How Powerful is your Hopefulness? 

He was called the Dreamer: Joseph had specific and clear dreams about whom he was going to be in the future; however, he had the experience of Slavery, wrongful imprisonment but with his sense of Hopefulness still alive ...he dared speak to his guys..."when you go back out there tell your boss, Pharaoh about me". 

The Favour he asked from his fellow inmates at their release had nothing to do with his release but had everything to do with his boyhood dreams. 

He saw clearly everyone (the sun and the moon and the eleven stars) bowing before him...

Ruth had a dream of being a loving wife and mother; and then suddenly death struck...attempting to deny her of that dream and soon she became a widow. 

But why would a widow stick around and still follow her bereaved widowed mother-in-law into a strange land? I call it the "Audacity of Hope". She faithfully served her mother-in-law but with her eyes opened. 

When Boaz showed up, she was guided accordingly and had her matrimonial dreams fully restored. 

Why are you giving your past so much power to stop your colourful future? 

Do you allow the pain of yesteryears to blur your vision of a bright and colourful tomorrow? 

Set yourself free...deliver yourself from that emotional prison. 

You have made the 299th unsuccessful application, so what? Make the 300th one. 

Your last business failed and you lost money...so what? Listen up, start a new one. 

I don't care how many failures or setbacks you have had...it's not a good enough excuse to pack up and live below your original dream/vision. 

You will not fail!

THE NEED FOR A CLEAN ENGINE

Have you ever lived in a house where the washing sink takes too long to flow out? Even the bath tub takes a while for all the water to flow through? How did it feel? You and I will agree that, when the sink or the bath tub don't  work efficiently there are dirt that are definitely blocking the flow within the pipe. 

When a plumber is called to fix it, he uses an acidic substance to flush the sink and in minutes the dirt is blasted through and the sink and bath is back to normal.

A CLEAN ENGINE WILL ALWAYS DELIVER MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY (POWER)

There are lots of people whose lives seem not to be working at the rate it is supposed to. They do so much work and yet have little to show for it, they are literally struggling to make things happen. I believe it is time to check our 'engines' and clear our wheels from every clog that hinders the smooth running of the wheels.

Your heart is your engine, you need to at all times keep it free from offence. 

It is not because you do not have the justification to be offended but because your progress in life is worth paying any price for, even if it means given up hurts and forgiving everyone who offends you. There is an amazing scripture I stumbled on lately..

1 Corinth 13:5 (The Amp)

''...charity does not keep record of wrongs...''

Love is the acidic substance that can flush every hurt and restore your life to the speed lane of fulfillment. Joseph loved his brothers and forgave them regardless of their offence, no wonder he became the Prime Minister. David, had an opportunity to slay Saul, yet he restrained himself and ascended the throne later. Isaac walked away even when his wells were forcefully taken, no wonder he ended up as the envy of the Philistines...you too can put your name on this list.

Be careful of the trap of offence, anger bitterness, etc. Let it go...I see your point, I see your pain...the question is

DO YOU REALLY WANT TO BE STAGNATED?

It is time to consciously let that hurt go. Get your phone, call that person, stop the malice...go and sort it out and be free again. Remember it is not because of their sake, it is for your sake. 

The most interesting part is, these persons might have reconciled with God and have moved on and you are still holding an offence against them. How do you accuse someone of an offence whom God has forgiven...you will be working against God. Can a man work against God and be prosperous?

IT IS TIME TO LET IT GO...KEEP YOUR ENGINE CLEAN!

UP YOUR PERSONAL EXPECTATIONS: DEMAND DYNAMICS 2

The expectation you have of any product, determines the type of demand you place on that product. 

When you look at a ripened orange, what do you expect? Water?  When you look at a tap in your kitchen, what do you expect? Juice?  

Every orange is loaded with juice, but the amount of juice you will enjoy from it is a function of the degree of squeeze/pressure applied on the orange. 

Talking about the orange does not release the juice; making the orange look special and colourful does not produce the juice; placing the orange beside other fruits does not produce the Juice either. 

It will only take a direct squeeze.

Your life is like an orange loaded with heavy and juicy potentials for greatness at any venture but how much squeeze are you applying on yourself. 

Talking so much about what you can do, does not release your full potential; appearing and looking presentable does not release your potential; hanging out with those already living their dreams doesn't release your potential; connecting with great people on Social Media will not release your potential...the only way to release that greatness inside of you is to...

Squeeze yourself 

Friends the path of ease and continued comfort leads to nowhere...as a matter of fact it leads to pain and massive discomfort. 

What do you expect of yourself this week? What do you expect of yourself this month? What corresponding demand are you placing on yourself as a true indication of your expectation? 

No body ever realised their dreams by "Chilling and Hanging Out". 

A business has a potential to make £1m in its first year does not translate to an account statement of £1m. It takes work...hard work to convert every potential to a reality. 

Go...Work...Squeeze...Enough of the Chilling...because...the world is waiting for your Juice.

There are those who believe life is a game of chance, there are those who believe life is predestination...hence ''whatever will be will be''. I have come to say, life is a ship that you continuously steer to your choice destination but on this ship, you are the captain hence absolute responsibility falls on you.

Just as it is common to sailing, storms are natural to life more so when you have made a decision not to remain where you are or settle for less than you think you deserve. However some people have been through situations and have decided to give up on reaching their ultimate destination. I have good news for you...

IT IS NOT OVER!

God instructed a 75 year old man called Abraham ''...FROM WHERE YOU ARE...LIFT UP YOUR EYES AND DREAM, AS FAR AS YOU CAN DREAM AND COMMIT TO HOLDING THAT PICTURE, YOU WILL EXPERIENCE ALL YOU CAN IMAGINE...Gen. 13:14-15

There was a young man called Joseph, who had spent a considerable part of his youth as a slave and then a prisoner, but dared to keep dreaming FROM WHERE HE WAS...suddenly his circumstance began to align with his Dream.

Do not let people's opinion about your age or circumstance affect your CAPACITY TO DREAM again. Some people are wallowing in self pity, depression, low self esteem just because they have been ridiculed and told their time was past. I tell you the truth, it is the biggest lie to subscribe to.

My message to you this morning is to GET UP and GET OUT from such negative mindsets and start to DREAM AGAIN FROM WHERE YOU ARE. I hear someone say, you do not know my story...it is the same story you have told yourself all this while that has kept you where you are. Hey! Why don't you seek a new and positive story? Why don't you choose to doubt your doubt for once? Break free from every limiting belief system. I dare you to dream again and once again I proclaim to you...

UP YOUR PERSONAL EXPECTATIONS: DEMAND DYNAMICS 1

The expectations we have about ourselves and our abilities will always determine how much we will accomplish in life.

When you tell a consumer, "this product is Versace" the consumer knows what to expect. When you tell a Gadget enthusiast, "this Laptop is an Apple product" there is an expectation. These customers will buy these products and immediately begin to place functional demands on the Product. 

Now, you are a Product from God...I mean you were originally designed in heaven by God and Packaged  to come via your parents; if you so believe in a man made product, why can't you believe in a God-made Product?

Let me show you the uniqueness of this Product called You:

1. "...for "You" have the mind of Christ..." 1 Corith. 2:16

2. "...God has not given "You" the spirit of fear...but of Power...and of a Sound Mind..." 2 Tim. 1:7

When will you start placing functional demands on your Mind? 

Friend, You are not a nobody...You were not created to just journey this earth without making a difference. The seal "God-Made" is a stronger brand than Versace, Armani, Louis Vuitton, Tommy Hilfiger, etc. 

To have little dreams shows how much value you have placed on this God-Made brand - You. 

To place little or no demand on that "Sound Mind" of yours is you under-utilising the Manufacturer's product. 

Who else should make news headlines if not you?

Who else should be a blessing to this generation if not you?

It's time to believe in what God made, God made you...and he did not make a "failure". 

An Aircraft was made to Fly, but until you place the appropriate demand on its functionality, it will remain grounded.
